Dynacraft is recalling about 5,500 electric, battery-operated purple and black-colored “City Scooters” with Monster High graphics on the front panels, seat and rear fenders, because the company has received numerous reports of the scooters accelerating unintentionally, resulting in injuries.

The scooters, which were manufactured in China, were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and through Walmart.com, nationwide from November 2012 to January 2013 for $249.

If you purchased this scooter, you should disconnect the battery immediately so the scooter is inoperable, and return it to Walmart for a full refund or store credit. If you have been seriously injured as a result of this malfunction, you may be entitled to compensation and should contact a knowledgeable and experienced personal injury attorney who can advise you.

The scooters were manufactured between October 5, 2012 and November 7, 2012. The model number is “8801-14″ and the date of manufacture (formatted as “YYYY/MM/DD”) is printed on a data label on the underside of the scooter’s center platform.

Serial numbers for the recalled scooters have the letters “QYCEI” followed by a six-digit number in the following range: 003125 through 014456. The serial number can be found etched on the underside of the scooter’s center platform near the data label.
